Maghfirah is "Forgiveness"-specifically, the act of Allah "covering" a sin and protecting the servant from its harmful consequences. While "Afw" means erasing a sin, Maghfirah is often described as Allah shielding the believer’s faults from others in this world and from punishment in the "Akhirah." The pursuit of Maghfirah through "Istighfar" (seeking forgiveness) and "Tawbah" (repentance) is a lifelong journey. The Prophet (PBUH) taught that Allah’s Maghfirah is wider than our sins, encouraging a heart of hope rather than despair, and a commitment to "Islah" (self-correction).
