Mikail (Michael) is one of the four archangels in Islam. He is entrusted by Allah with the management of the natural world, specifically the distribution of rain and the provision of sustenance (Rizq) to all living creatures. Mikail is often mentioned alongside Jibril; while Jibril brings spiritual food (revelation), Mikail oversees physical nourishment. His role highlights the Islamic belief that even the forces of nature are under the meticulous control of Divine servants acting on God's command. The Quran mentions Mika'il alongside Jibril: "Whoever is an enemy to Allah and His angels and His messengers and Jibril and Mikail, then indeed, Allah is an enemy to the disbelievers" (2:98). This verse indicates the high status of both archangels. Mika'il is responsible for rain and provision. He directs the clouds, distributes rain, and ensures that every creature receives its sustenance. His name means "Who is like God" or "Servant of God." In Islamic tradition, Mika'il is one of the four archangels, along with Jibril, Israfil, and Azrael. He is described as having great mercy and compassion, as his role involves providing for all of creation. The Prophet said that Mika'il and Jibril came to him, and Mika'il taught him about the blessings of Allah. For believers, Mika'il is a reminder that all provision comes from Allah, but He uses His angels to carry out His commands. When rain falls and crops grow, the believer sees the work of Mika'il and thanks Allah. When they receive provision, they recognize it as a gift from Allah, distributed through His servants. Mika'il also represents the mercy of Allah. His role in providing sustenance reflects the divine attribute of Ar-Razzaq (The Provider). The believer trusts that Allah, through Mika'il and the angels, will provide for them, and they are grateful for the blessings they receive. The Prophet said that Mika'il prays for believers, asking Allah to forgive them and provide for them. For believers, Mika'il is a symbol of Allah's care for His creation, ensuring that every creature receives what it needs to survive. The believer thanks Allah for this provision, and they also recognize that they are part of the chain of provision, they may be the means through which others receive their sustenance. They are generous and share their resources, knowing that Mika'il distributes Allah's provision to all.
