Ujb

Ujb, or "Vanity/Self-Admiration," refers to a historic and foundational vice in Islamic ethics, representing the peak of spiritual corruption where a person attributes their success or blessings to their own merit rather than the grace of Allah (SWT). Rooted in the concept of "Nafs" (lower self), Ujb is a definitive Hujjah (proof) of the spiritual "rust" that can erode the believer’s sincerity (Ikhlas) and lead to the loss of Izzah (honor) in both worlds. It represents the Nur (light) and the humble heart of a faith that views the "Tazkiyah" (purification) of the spirit as the primary means of attaining "Basirah" (spiritual insight) and the Sakina (tranquility) of the soul for the pleasure of their Lord.
