Al-Mutakabbir (The Majestic) - Reinforcing Divine Greatness. This Name serves as a stern warning against "Kibr" (arrogance) in the human heart. The Prophet (PBUH) said that "Kibriya" is Allah's cloak, and whoever competes with Him for it will be punished. For the "Mu'min," this attribute is a source of "Izzah" (honor); we do not bow to any worldly power because we know that only Al-Mutakabbir is worthy of such "Adhamah" (grandeur). Al-Mutakabbir (The Supreme/The Majestic) is the Name of Allah signifying His right to greatness and His transcendence over all "Zulm" (oppression) and deficiency. Unlike human "Kibr" (arrogance), which is a defect, Allah's "Takabbur" is the manifestation of His absolute perfection and sovereignty. For the "Ummah," this Name is a warning to the "Nafs" to remain humble. It teaches the "Mu'min" that all true majesty belongs to Allah, and that those who try to compete with Him in greatness will eventually face "Dhillah" (disgrace). The Name Al-Mutakabbir appears in Surah al-Hashr: "He is Allah, besides whom there is no deity; the King, the Pure, the Perfection, the Giver of Faith, the Overseer, the Almighty, the Compeller, the Majestic (Al-Mutakabbir)" (59:23). This Name indicates Allah's absolute greatness and sovereignty. He alone has the right to be great, and His greatness is perfect and infinite. The Prophet warned against human arrogance: "Whoever has an atom's weight of pride in his heart will not enter Paradise" (Muslim). This is because pride belongs to Allah alone as Al-Mutakabbir. Understanding Al-Mutakabbir humbles the believer. When they consider Allah's majesty, their own accomplishments seem small. When they reflect on His power, their own abilities seem weak. The believer does not become arrogant because they know that all greatness belongs to Allah. Al-Mutakabbir also gives believers dignity. They do not bow to human pride, do not seek status from people, and do not need to prove their worth. Their honor comes from being servants of Al-Mutakabbir. The Prophet said: "Whoever humbles himself for Allah, Allah will raise him" (Muslim). This is the paradox of Al-Mutakabbir,those who humble themselves before the Majestic One are honored by Him. The Name also warns the arrogant. Those who look down on others, who boast of their wealth or status, who claim superiority based on race or lineage, they are competing with Al-Mutakabbir. The Prophet said: "Allah said: 'Greatness is My cloak and pride is My garment; whoever competes with Me in them, I will punish him'" (Abu Dawud). For believers, Al-Mutakabbir is a reminder to be humble. They recognize that all they have is from Allah, that they are equal to others before Him, and that the only superiority is in taqwa (God-consciousness). The Prophet said: "No one will enter Paradise who has an atom's weight of arrogance in his heart" (Muslim). The believer purifies their heart from arrogance, knowing that all greatness belongs to Al-Mutakabbir. The ultimate manifestation of Al-Mutakabbir's majesty will be on the Day of Judgment, when He will fold up the heavens and earth and declare: "I am the King. Where are the kings of the earth?" (Bukhari). The believer lives in humility, waiting for that day when the majesty of Al-Mutakabbir will be fully manifest, and those who were arrogant in this world will be brought low.
