Al-Hakam (The Arbitrator) - Duplicate entry emphasizing the Finality of Divine Judgment. This Name teaches us that human "Qada" (judgment) is fallible, but Allah's ruling is absolute. It warns the "Zalim" (oppressor) that there is a Higher Court where no injustice is overlooked. For the "Mu'min," it brings peace of mind, knowing that even if "Adl" is not fully realized in this "Dunya," Al-Hakam will ensure perfect equity in the presence of the "Mizan" (scales). Al-Hakam (The Judge) is the Name of Allah signifying that He is the ultimate Arbitrator whose "Hukm" (ruling) cannot be overturned. He distinguishes "Haqq" (truth) from "Batil" (falsehood) with perfect "Adl" (justice). In the "Akhirah," He will be the sole Judge over all disputes. For the "Ummah," this Name is a reminder to always seek "Hukm" from the Quran and Sunnah and to be satisfied with Allah's decree, knowing it is perfectly fair. The Name Al-Hakam appears in the Quran: "Then is it the judgment of ignorance they desire? And who is better than Allah in judgment for a people who are certain?" (5:50). This emphasizes that Allah's judgment is superior to all human systems. Understanding Al-Hakam gives peace to the believer. When they face injustice, they know that Al-Hakam will judge with perfect justice. The Prophet said: "Beware the supplication of the oppressed, for there is no barrier between it and Allah" (Bukhari). This is the justice of Al-Hakam. Al-Hakam also calls believers to judge justly. When they are in positions of authority, they should rule with justice. The Prophet said: "The just will be on pulpits of light on the Day of Judgment" (Muslim). The ultimate judgment is on the Day of Judgment, when Al-Hakam will judge between all people with perfect justice. The believer lives with the awareness of that judgment, seeking to be among those who are judged with mercy, and trusting that Al-Hakam will rectify every wrong.
