The Al-Andalus Library Of Cordoba, established by the Umayyad Caliph Al-Hakam II in the 10th century, was one of the largest and most magnificent centers of "Ilm" (knowledge) in the medieval world. Containing over 400,000 volumes across every field of science, philosophy, and religion, the library was a physical manifestation of the Islamic love for the "Pen" and the "Nur" (light) of the Divine Word. It was a place of "Itqan" (perfection) and intellectual hospitality, attracting scholars from across the "Ummah" and Europe, and facilitating the world-changing work of "Tajdid" (renewal) and translation that eventually triggered the Renaissance in the West.
Theologically, the creation of the Cordoba library was an act of "Ubudiyyah" (servitude) and "Khidmah" (service).
