Honey is highly praised in the Quran and the Sunnah, not only as a food but as a "Shifa" (healing). Surah an-Nahl (The Bee) mentions that within honey is healing for mankind. The Prophet (PBUH) often recommended honey for various ailments, particularly stomach issues. From an Islamic perspective, the production of honey is a sign (Ayah) of Allah's creative power, where a tiny insect produces a complex, nutritious substance. Honey is also mentioned as one of the delicacies found in the rivers of Paradise, symbolizing sweetness, purity, and the blessings of the afterlife. The Quran says about honey: "There emerges from their bellies a drink of varying colors in which there is healing for people" (16:69). This verse establishes honey as a source of healing. The Prophet (peace be upon him) recommended honey for various ailments. He said: "Cure yourselves with honey, for it is a cure for every disease" (Ahmad). He used honey for stomach ailments and recommended it for others. Honey has been studied extensively. Modern research confirms its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and wound-healing properties. It is used for sore throats, wounds, digestive issues, and general wellness. Honey is also a sunnah food. The Prophet loved honey and used it regularly. For believers, honey is a healing food. They use it for health, following the Quran and sunnah, and trusting in Allah as the source of healing. They appreciate the bee as a sign of Allah's creation and honey as a blessing in this life and a promise of Paradise.
