Jannah

جنة
Text Size:
Jannah is the Arabic name for "Paradise" or "The Garden". It is the eternal reward promised to the righteous in the Hereafter. Jannah is described in vivid terms, rivers of milk and honey, palaces of gold, and gardens of peace, but the Quran notes that its true reality is beyond human imagination. The greatest reward in Jannah is not the physical pleasure, but the "Ridwan" (Good Pleasure) of Allah and the opportunity to see His Face. Jannah consists of multiple levels, with the highest being Firdaws, directly beneath the Throne of Allah. The Quran describes Jannah as a place where no fatigue or pain is felt, where inhabitants are free from fear and sorrow, and where they dwell in eternal happiness. Its gardens are shaded, with flowing rivers of water, milk, wine (pure and non-intoxicating), and honey. Inhabitants wear garments of silk, recline on adorned couches, and are served by eternal youths. The people of Jannah will have spouses of pure companionship, and they will see one another as young and beautiful. Entry into Jannah is by Allah's mercy, though righteous deeds are a means. The Prophet taught that the lowest rank of Jannah is so vast that its dweller would have ten times the world and everything in it. Jannah is the ultimate aspiration for every believer, motivating them to live righteously and seek Allah's pleasure above all else.
