Nazm refers to the "thematic and linguistic arrangement" or the "divine order" of the Quranic text. It is the science that examines the structural harmony, the flow of verses, and the internal consistency of the Quran, demonstrating that the scripture is not a random collection of revelations but a perfectly composed masterpiece. The term Nazm literally means to string pearls together, suggesting that every verse is a precious gem held in place by a divine "thread" of logic and spiritual purpose. This concept is a core element of the "I’jaz" (miraculous nature) of the Quran, showing that no human being could produce a work with such intricate and flawless organization over a span of 23 years.

Theologically, Nazm proves that the Quran is a "Wahyu" (revelation) from the All-Knowing. Even when the text shifts rapidly between law, history, and creed, there is an underlying "Munasabat" (connectedness) that maintains a unified message. Scholars like Imam al-Jurjani and Imam al-Biqa'i explored the Nazm to show how the sounds, the words, and the themes work in symphony to produce a transformative effect on the human heart. The arrangement is believed to be "Tawqifi," meaning it was directed by the Prophet (PBUH) under Divine instruction. This structure serves as a "Burhan" (demonstrative proof) for the authenticity of the Quran, as its internal symmetry remains unbroken despite the diverse circumstances of its revelation. It ensures that the reader is guided through a coherent "Manhaj" (methodology) of life.

For the Ummah, the study of Nazm is a means of "Tafakkur" (deep contemplation). It encourages the believer to read the Quran holistically, understanding how one part of the book explains and supports another. It teaches that the Divine Word is a "Hablu-Allah" (Rope of Allah) that is strong and perfectly woven. By recognizing the divine order of the Quran, the Muslim community can attain a more organized and disciplined approach to their own lives, reflecting the harmony and balance found in the scripture. It provides a safeguard against taking verses out of context, as every "Ayah" is understood within its divinely designated place in the Nazm. This science remains a vital field for modern scholars to demonstrate the miraculous continuity of the Quranic message in an increasingly fragmented world.
