Riwaq

Riwaq (Arcade or Colonnade) refers to a type of architectural space in Islamic architecture consisting of a covered passage or gallery supported by columns or arches. Riwaqs are commonly found in mosques, madrasas, and other Islamic buildings, surrounding courtyards (sahn) and providing shaded spaces for prayer, study, and gathering.
