The phenomenon of "Sudden Deaths" (Mawt al-Fuja'ah) is mentioned in Prophetic traditions as one of the signs of the approach of the "Sa'ah" (Day of Judgment). In Islamic spirituality, this serves as a profound "Tadhkirah" (reminder) of the fragility of life and the certainty of the "Akhirah." It encourages the believer to remain in a state of constant "Tawbah" (repentance) and "Istidad" (readiness), as one never knows when their "Ajal" (appointed time) will arrive. Rather than a source of fear, this awareness should lead to a life of "Ikhlas" (sincerity) and the prioritization of deeds that bring "Falah" (success) before the meeting with Allah. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Remember often the destroyer of pleasures, death" (Tirmidhi). Sudden death is a reminder that death can come at any moment, without warning. It calls believers to be always prepared,to be in a state of faith, to have their affairs in order, and to live each day as if it could be their last. The believer does not live in fear of sudden death but uses it as motivation. They seek to fill every moment with good deeds, knowing that they may not have another chance. They make repentance immediately, not delaying until tomorrow. They reconcile with others, give charity, and worship Allah with presence and sincerity. The awareness of sudden death also cultivates detachment from the world. The believer does not become attached to worldly possessions, knowing that they could be taken at any moment. They use the world as a means to the Hereafter, investing in what will benefit them when they meet Allah. Sudden death is also a reminder of Allah's mercy. Even those who die suddenly, if they are in a state of faith, are granted Paradise. The believer trusts in Allah's mercy while striving to live righteously. The ultimate preparation is to live a life of faith, righteousness, and constant repentance, so that when death comes, whether suddenly or after illness, the believer meets Allah in a state of peace.
