Al-Khafid (The Abaser) is the Name of Allah signifying that He is the One who humbles and lowers the status of the "Zalimeen" (oppressors) and those who are arrogant in their "Kufr" (disbelief). This attribute is always balanced with "Ar-Rafi'" (The Exalter). For the "Ummah," this Name serves as a warning against "Kibr" (pride) and a source of justice. It reminds the believer that true status is not found in worldly power, but in "Taqwa," and that Allah will eventually lower those who exalt themselves above His commands. Al-Khafid (The Abaser) is the Name of Allah signifying that He is the One who lowers those who are arrogant and those who oppose the "Haqq" (truth). He lowers the status of the "Kuffar" in the "Akhirah" and humbles the tyrants in this "Dunya." For the "Ummah," Al-Khafid is a reminder that true status comes from "Taqwa," not from worldly "Jah" (prestige) or wealth. The Name Al-Khafid appears in Hadith (as part of the 99 Names). It indicates that Allah lowers the arrogant, the oppressive, and those who exalt themselves above His command. Understanding Al-Khafid humbles the believer. They know that no matter how high they rise in this world, Al-Khafid can bring them low. They do not become arrogant about their status, wealth, or achievements, knowing that all status is from Allah and can be taken by Al-Khafid. The Prophet said: "Whoever humbles himself for Allah, Allah will raise him" (Muslim). This is the balance, those who lower themselves before Allah, Al-Khafid raises; those who exalt themselves, Al-Khafid lowers. Al-Khafid also gives comfort to the oppressed. When tyrants seem powerful, the believer knows that Al-Khafid will eventually lower them. The Quran mentions Pharaoh: "We will bring him low to a humiliating punishment" (8:54). This is the promise of Al-Khafid. The Name also warns against arrogance in worship. The believer does not look down on others, does not feel superior because of their piety, does not judge others harshly. They know that Al-Khafid could lower them if they become proud of their worship. The Prophet said: "No one will enter Paradise who has an atom's weight of arrogance in his heart" (Muslim). Al-Khafid also calls believers to be humble. They should lower themselves in service to others, not seek status, and remember that the highest status is being a servant of Allah. The ultimate humbling is on the Day of Judgment, when Al-Khafid will lower the arrogant to the lowest depths of Hell. The believer lives in humility, seeking the exaltation that comes from Al-Khafid's mercy, not the humiliation that comes from His justice.
