Bismillah Awwaluhu Wa Akhiruhu

Bismillah Awwaluhu Wa Akhiruhu is a specific supplication taught by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to be said if one forgets to say "Bismillah" at the beginning of a meal. It translates to "In the name of Allah at its beginning and its end." This practice ensures that even if a person was distracted at the start, they can still reclaim the blessing and spiritual protection associated with eating. The supplication is based on the Prophet's teaching: "When one of you eats, let him mention the name of Allah. It also prevents Shaytan from sharing in the meal,the Prophet said that when one forgets to mention Allah at the beginning, Shaytan joins in the meal, but mentioning Allah at the end removes him. The supplication also teaches that it is never too late to remember Allah. Even if one fails at the beginning, they can rectify it later. This principle applies to many aspects of worship and life. In daily practice, this phrase is used whenever one realizes they forgot Bismillah before eating. It can also be used for other acts where Bismillah is recommended but was forgotten. The supplication reflects the mercy of Islamic law, which does not demand perfection but provides remedies for shortcomings.
