Hijama, or "Cupping Therapy," refers to the historic and medicinal practice highly recommended in the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) for its detoxifying and restorative properties. Representing the peak of early Islamic "Tibb al-Nabawi" (Prophetic Medicine), the Prophet (PBUH) famously stated that "if there is any good in your medical treatments, it is in the blade of the cupper." This represents the Nur (light) and the health-conscious heart of a faith that views the natural world as a primary source of healing (Shifa) and the body as a sacred "Amanah" (trust) from the Creator. Hijama is a definitive Hujjah (proof) of the holistic and enlightened nature of the Islamic message, which encourages the pursuit of physical well-being as a means of attaining spiritual success and Sakina (tranquility) for the Ummah for the pleasure of their Lord. Hijama (cupping) is a traditional therapy that involves placing cups on the skin and creating suction. It is believed to draw out impurities, improve circulation, and relieve pain. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The best of your remedies is cupping (hijama)" (Bukhari). He also said: "If there is any good in your medical treatments, it is in the blade of the cupper" (Ahmad). The Prophet had hijama performed on his head, on his shoulder, and on his foot. He encouraged it for various ailments, especially on the 17th, 19th, and 21st of the lunar month. Hijama is sunnah and is practiced today by Muslims seeking physical healing and following the Prophet's example. For believers, hijama is a form of prophetic medicine. They use it for healing, following the sunnah, and seeking the barakah (blessing) of the Prophet's guidance. They combine treatment with trust in Allah as the ultimate Healer (al-Shafi).
