Text Size:
Prophet Sulayman (Solomon, peace be upon him) was a prophet and king of the Children of Israel, son of Prophet Dawud (David). Allah granted him exceptional powers and a magnificent kingdom unmatched in history. He could understand and communicate with animals, command the wind to transport his throne vast distances, and control the jinn, who served as laborers, builders, and divers. The Quran recounts: "And to Solomon [We subjected] the wind – its morning [journey was that of] a month and its afternoon [journey was that of] a month. And We made flow for him a spring of molten copper. And among the jinn were those who worked for him by the permission of his Lord" (34:12). Despite this extraordinary power, Sulayman remained a humble servant of Allah, constantly grateful and acknowledging that all blessings came from Him. His famous encounter with the Queen of Sheba (Bilqis) demonstrated his wisdom and commitment to spreading monotheism (Tawhid). When she arrived with her people, Sulayman guided her to recognize the truth and submit to Allah. He taught the importance of justice, gratitude, and using power responsibly. His story reminds believers that worldly power is meaningless without spiritual submission, and that all authority is a trust (amanah) from Allah.
