Usul Al-Fiqh, or the "Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence," is the science that provides the methodology and the analytical tools used to derive legal rulings from the primary and secondary sources of Islam. It is the "logic" of Islamic law, defining how to interpret the Quran and the Sunnah, how to apply analogy (Qiyas), and how to reach a consensus (Ijma).
