Ar-Razzaq is the Divine Name of Allah meaning "The Provider" or "The Sustainer." It signifies that God is the sole source of all sustenance (Rizq), whether physical, such as food, water, and wealth, or spiritual, such as knowledge, guidance, and peace of mind. This attribute emphasizes that every living creature is provided for by the Creator and that no one can withhold what God has decreed to give. In Islamic ethics, understanding Allah as Ar-Razzaq encourages believers to work hard while maintaining trust (Tawakkul) in God, knowing that their ultimate provision is in His hands and not solely dependent on human effort or worldly means. Ar-Razzaq (The Total Provider) is the Name of Allah signifying that He is the sole source of "Rizq" (provision) for every living thing. He provides not just physical food, but also spiritual "Ilm" and "Iman." For the "Ummah," this Name is the cure for "Hasad" (envy) and anxiety. It teaches the "Mu'min" that their portion of the world is guaranteed by the Creator, allowing them to focus on "Ibadah" (worship) and "Amal Salih" without fearing poverty or the competition of others. The Name Ar-Razzaq appears in the Quran: "Indeed, Allah is the Provider (Ar-Razzaq), the Possessor of Strength, the Firm" (51:58). This verse emphasizes that Allah is the ultimate provider and that His provision is certain. Understanding Ar-Razzaq frees believers from anxiety about provision. They work, strive, and plan, but they know that the outcome is in Allah's hands. The Prophet said: "If you were to rely on Allah as He should be relied upon, He would provide for you as He provides for the birds, they go out in the morning with empty stomachs and return in the evening with full stomachs" (Tirmidhi). This is tawakkul (trust) combined with effort. Ar-Razzaq also removes envy. When others have more, the believer knows that Ar-Razzaq gives to whom He wills. They do not envy but are content with what they have, knowing that their provision is written. The Prophet said: "Look to those below you, not those above you, for it is better that you not disdain the blessings of Allah" (Muslim). Ar-Razzaq also encourages gratitude. Every provision, food, health, knowledge,is from Ar-Razzaq. The believer thanks Him, uses His provisions in ways that please Him, and shares with others. The Prophet said: "He who does not thank people does not thank Allah" (Abu Dawud). This is gratitude for the provisions that come through others. The Name also reminds believers to be providers for others. Just as Ar-Razzaq provides, believers should provide for their families and help those in need. The Prophet said: "The one who provides for his family is like a mujahid (one who strives) in the path of Allah" (Tabarani). The ultimate provision is guidance (hidayah). Ar-Razzaq provides the greatest rizq, faith, knowledge, and closeness to Him. The believer seeks this provision above all, asking Ar-Razzaq to provide them with guidance, with Paradise, and with His pleasure. They live in trust, gratitude, and generosity, knowing that the Provider never fails to provide for His servants.
