Dabbat Al-Ard

دابة الأرض
Text Size:
Dabbat al-Ard (the Beast of the Earth) symbolizes the final differentiation between truth and falsehood. The term "Dabbah" literally means anything that walks on the earth. Its appearance is part of a sequence of cataclysmic events marking the end of the world. Mentioned in the Quran: "We will bring forth for them a creature from the earth speaking to them, that the people were, of Our verses, not certain" (27:82).

The beast will emerge as one of the major signs of the Hour, likely from Mecca. It will speak to people and mark believers and disbelievers, marking the face of the believer with light and the disbeliever with darkness. It will emerge after the sun rises from the west, after which repentance is no longer accepted. Its appearance is a sign that the "gate of repentance" has closed and the time for certainty has arrived.

This beast is one of the ten major signs of the Hour occurring in succession. For believers, Dabbat al-Ard serves as a warning: the time for repentance is limited. One must live in a state of readiness, knowing that the Hour could come at any time. The beast reminds that Allah's signs are for those who reflect. Ultimate certainty must be sought now, not when the final signs appear.

The concept emphasizes that there will come a point when the opportunity for repentance is over. The beast marks the end of the period of grace. Therefore, the believer repents and acts now. It is a reminder of the absolute power of Allah over creation,He can bring forth a creature that speaks, marking the final separation. The believer submits to His power and prepares for the meeting with their Lord.
