Al-Ali (The Most High) is a Name of Allah that describes His absolute "Uluw" (transcendence) in rank, power, and essence. He is above all His creation in every sense, and nothing is superior to Him. This attribute is often recited in "Sujud" (prostration) during "Salah" to remind the believer of their own "Ubudiyyah" (servitude) and lowliness in the presence of the Sublimity of the Creator. It instills "Khashyah" (awe) and "Haya" (modesty) in the heart. The Name Al-Ali appears in the Quran: "He is the Most High (Al-Ali), the Most Great" (2:255). This verse pairs Al-Ali with Al-Azim, emphasizing Allah's absolute transcendence. Understanding Al-Ali humbles the believer. They know that no matter how high they rise, Allah is higher. They do not become arrogant about their status, achievements, or knowledge. The Prophet said: "Whoever humbles himself for Allah, Allah will raise him" (Muslim). Al-Ali also gives perspective. When the believer faces difficulties, they know that Al-Ali is above all, in control of all. The ultimate elevation is in Paradise, where Al-Ali will raise the believers to the highest ranks. The believer lives in humility, seeking closeness to Al-Ali, knowing that the One who is Most High is also Most Near to those who seek Him.
