Imam al-Qurtubi (1214–1273 CE) was a historic and world-renowned Muslim scholar of Quranic exegesis (Tafsir) and Maliki jurisprudence who represents the peak of intellectual Itqan (perfection) and scholarly Izzah (honor). Born in Cordoba (Al-Andalus) and later living in Egypt, his monumental work, "Al-Jami’ li-Ahkam al-Quran," is one of the most respected and comprehensive commentaries, focusing specifically on the legal and the social rulings derived from the Divine Word.
