Masjid al-Quba (The Quba Mosque) is the first mosque built in Islam, established by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) upon his arrival in Medina during the Hijrah (migration) in 622 CE. The foundation of this mosque was laid by the Prophet (PBUH) himself, and the Quran refers to it as the mosque "founded on piety from the first day" (Surah At-Tawbah 9:108). Masjid al-Quba represents the peak of Islamic architectural Itqan (perfection) and the Nur (light) of a faith that places the house of worship at the center of community life. It serves as a definitive Hujjah (proof) of the importance of establishing places of worship for the unity and spiritual growth of the Ummah, providing the believers with the Sakina (tranquility) and the inspiration to build mosques as centers of guidance for the pleasure of their Lord.
