Rabbana Atina Fid Dunya Hasanah Wa Fil Akhirati Hasanah is the full version of the "Rabbana" prayer, meaning "Our Lord, give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire." It is considered the most complete prayer because it asks for the best of both worlds. It perfectly summarizes the Islamic philosophy of "Mizan" (balance),striving for success and happiness today while prioritizing the eternal safety and joy of the afterlife. It is a staple of every Muslim's daily "Adhkar." This Du'a is from the Quran (2:201) and is described by scholars as the most comprehensive supplication. It combines the three essential requests: good in this world, good in the Hereafter, and protection from the Fire. The Prophet said that this Du'a encompasses all good. He would recite it frequently and recommended it to his companions. The good in this world (dunya hasanah) encompasses all that is beneficial in the temporal life: health, safety, lawful provision, beneficial knowledge, righteous family, good character, and the ability to perform acts of obedience. It also includes patience in trials and contentment with Allah's decree. The good in the Hereafter (akhirah hasanah) is the ultimate good: Paradise, salvation from the Fire, the pleasure of Allah, and the vision of His face. The request for protection from the Fire (qina 'adhaban-nar) acknowledges that even with good deeds, one relies on Allah's mercy for salvation. This Du'a reflects the comprehensive nature of Islam, which does not reject the world but uses it as a means to the Hereafter. It asks for good in this world not for its own sake but as a means to worship Allah and prepare for the next. The Du'a is recited in every prayer after the Tashahhud, ensuring that each Muslim makes this comprehensive request multiple times daily. It serves as a constant reminder of the ultimate goals,seeking Allah's pleasure, balancing worldly needs with spiritual priorities, and never forgetting the reality of the Hereafter. In personal supplication, extending this Du'a with specific requests is encouraged, but this core form is sufficient to encompass all good. The Prophet described this Du'a as one that collects all good, and whoever is given this has been given all. It is the supplication that the people of Paradise will be taught, and it remains the guiding prayer for believers navigating life between the demands of this world and the hope of the next.
