Text Size:
Allah is the proper name of the One, True God, the Creator and Sustainer of the entire universe. It is a name that encompasses all Divine Attributes of "Jamal" (beauty) and "Jalal" (majesty). Linguistically, "Allah" is derived from "Al-Ilah" (The God), signifying that He alone deserves worship. Unlike the English word "God", which can be pluralized or gendered, "Allah" has no plural and no feminine form, emphasizing His absolute uniqueness and oneness. For the "Ummah", "Allah" is the center of "Tawhid" (oneness) and the object of all "Ubudiyyah" (servitude). There is nothing like Him, and nothing is worthy of worship except Him. The name Allah is the ultimate source of "Sakina" (calm) and "Yaqin" (certainty) for the heart of every "Mu'min" (believer). The name "Allah" signifies the "Wajib al-Wujud" (the Necessarily Existent), the One who has no beginning and no end. He is the "Rabb" of the worlds who sent the "Anbiya" (Prophets) to guide humanity. The Quran mentions Allah's 99 Beautiful Names (Al-Asma al-Husna), each revealing a dimension of His nature,Ar-Rahman (The Most Merciful), Al-Malik (The Sovereign), Al-Quddus (The Holy), and others. These names are not mere titles but pathways for believers to know their Creator intimately. For the "Ummah", the name Allah is the highest form of "Dhikr" (remembrance). It is the name that brings "Nur" (light) to the soul and "Falah" (success) to the life of the believer. Every "Amal" (deed) and "Salah" (prayer) begins and ends with the consciousness of His presence and His "Rahmah" (mercy).
