Wisdom of Abu Bakr

حكمة أبي بكر
Text Size:
Aqiqah is the "Sacrifice" of an animal on the occasion of a child’s birth, usually performed on the seventh day. It is a "Sunnah Mu'akkadah" (emphasized tradition) that expresses "Shukr" (gratitude) to Allah for the gift of life. The meat is shared with family, friends, and the poor, fostering "Sila al-Rahim" (family ties) and communal "Rahmah" (mercy). Spiritually, the Aqiqah is a form of "Fidya" (ransom) for the child, asking for Allah’s "Hifz" (protection) and "Barakah" (blessing) over their future. It marks the child's entry into the "Ummah" with an act of "Ibadah" (worship) and generosity.
