Yawm Al-Salam

يوم السلام
Text Size:
Yawm al-Salam (The Day of Peace) refers to the Day of Judgment when Allah, who is As-Salam (The Source of Peace), will establish perfect peace and justice. This term connects to one of Allah's beautiful names and the greeting of Paradise. The Quran describes the righteous entering Paradise with the greeting of peace: "And the angels will enter upon them from every gate, saying, 'Peace be upon you for what you patiently endured. And excellent is the final home'" (13:23-24). In a broader sense, Yawm al-Salam represents the ultimate hope for believers-a day when all injustices are rectified, all fears are removed, and eternal peace is attained in the presence of the Merciful. The concept of peace (Salam) permeates Islamic eschatology, from the greeting of angels to the very name of Paradise (Dar al-Salam). This understanding motivates believers to work for peace in this world as a reflection of their hope for the next. The Prophet (peace be upon him) taught that those who are merciful to others will receive mercy from the Most Merciful, and that spreading peace (saying Assalamu Alaikum) is among the best deeds in Islam. Yawm al-Salam reminds Muslims that their ultimate goal is not merely to escape punishment but to attain the positive, eternal peace that comes from drawing near to Allah.
