Yawm al-Waqf, or the "Day of Endowment," refers to the historic and foundational Islamic principle of establishing perpetual charitable trusts for the benefit of the community. Representing the peak of early Islamic social engineering and economic Itqan (perfection), the Waqf system allowed for the dedication of property, land, or capital to sustain mosques, schools, hospitals, and public utilities forever.
