Yawm al-Hasrah (The Day of Regret) refers to the Day of Judgment, so named because of the intense remorse that will overcome those who rejected faith or neglected their duties to Allah (SWT). The Quran describes this day as a time when the wrongdoer will bite their hands in anguish, regretting the choices they made in the worldly life. Representing the peak of Islamic eschatological Itqan (perfection) and the Nur (light) of a faith that warns of the consequences of negligence, Yawm al-Hasrah serves as a definitive Hujjah (proof) of the absolute accountability of every soul and the importance of using one's time wisely. For the Ummah, it is a primary Wasilah (means) for cultivating Taqwa (God-consciousness) and avoiding the paths that lead to eternal regret for the pleasure of their Lord.
Theologically, the concept of Yawm al-Hasrah is a manifestation of the principle of Divine Justice and the Hikmah (wisdom) of Divine law in the organization of the human potential. It reflects the Nur of a faith that views the awareness of regret as a primary means of attaining Basirah (spiritual insight) and the motivation for repentance (Tawbah) in this life. The Quran's vivid descriptions of the regret of the deniers serve as a Burhan (proof) of the intellectual and moral vitality of the Islamic message, which seeks to awaken the soul before the Day when regret will be of no avail.
