Al-Haqq (The Truth / The Reality) is one of the 99 Names of Allah, signifying that He is the only true, permanent, and absolute reality. Everything else in the universe is "Batil" (perishable or dependent) in comparison to Him. Al-Haqq means that Allah's existence is certain, His words are true, His promises are true, and the meeting with Him is true. In a world of shifting opinions and deceptions, Al-Haqq provides a fixed point of moral and spiritual certainty. For the believer, living by this Name means standing for the truth even when it is difficult, being honest in speech, and aligning one's life with the objective reality of the Quran and Sunnah. It also implies that ultimate justice will prevail, as "Truth has come, and falsehood has perished; indeed falsehood is [by nature] ever bound to perish" (Surah Al-Isra 17:81). The Name Al-Haqq appears in the Quran: "That is because Allah is the Truth (Al-Haqq), and what they call upon besides Him is falsehood" (31:30). This verse emphasizes that Allah is the only true reality. Understanding Al-Haqq gives certainty to the believer. In a world of confusion, they know that Allah is the ultimate truth. His words are true, His promises are true, and His guidance is true. The believer aligns their life with this truth. Al-Haqq also calls believers to truthfulness. They should be truthful in speech, honest in dealings, and authentic in character. The Prophet said: "Truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise" (Bukhari). Al-Haqq also assures justice. No matter how falsehood may appear to triumph in this world, Al-Haqq will ultimately prevail. The Quran says: "Rather, We dash the truth upon falsehood, and it destroys it, and it becomes nothing" (21:18). For believers, Al-Haqq is both a foundation and a goal. It is the foundation of their faith, the certainty that Allah is the Truth. It is the goal of their lives,to live in truth, to speak truth, and to stand for truth. The ultimate truth will be fully manifest on the Day of Judgment, when Al-Haqq will judge with perfect justice. The believer lives in truth, seeking the One who is the Truth, and hoping to be among those who are with the Truth in Paradise.
