Text Size:
The Quran is the literal "Word of Allah" revealed to Prophet Muhammad in Arabic. It is the final revelation to humanity and the primary source of Islam. The Quran is unique because it is "Mu'jiz" (inimitable) and has been preserved perfectly, letter for letter, for over 1,400 years. It is a "Huda" (Guidance), a "Shifa" (Healing), and a "Furqan" (Criterion) between right and wrong. For a Muslim, the Quran is a living companion and a direct conversation with the Creator. The Quran consists of 114 chapters (Surahs) and over 6,200 verses (Ayat), revealed gradually over 23 years to address the evolving needs of the early Muslim community. Its linguistic beauty and depth have challenged the most skilled poets and linguists throughout history. The Quran addresses theology, law, spirituality, history, and ethics, providing a comprehensive framework for individual and social life. Its preservation is unparalleled, millions of Muslims, known as Huffaz, have memorized the entire text from cover to cover, ensuring its transmission through both written and oral traditions. The Quran describes itself as a "Book" that is "clear", "blessed", and "sent down" with truth. Reciting it is considered an act of worship, and its verses are recited in daily prayers, during times of distress, and at every major life event.
