Nuzul 'Isa

نزول عيسى
Text Size:
Nuzul 'Isa (the descent of Jesus, peace be upon him) refers to the Islamic belief that Prophet Isa will return to earth near the end of times as a major sign preceding the Day of Judgment. According to authentic Hadith, Isa (AS) was not crucified but was raised bodily to heaven by Allah, and he will descend before the final hour. He will descend at the white minaret in eastern Damascus, resting his hands on the wings of two angels. His return will occur when the Dajjal (Antichrist) is spreading corruption, and Isa will lead the believers against him, ultimately slaying the Dajjal at the gate of Lud (Lydda) in Palestine. After defeating the Dajjal, Isa will break the cross, kill the pig, abolish the jizya (poll tax), and establish justice and peace. He will perform Hajj or 'Umrah, marry, have children, and live for forty years before dying a natural death. Muslims will pray over him, and he will be buried beside the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in Medina. Nuzul 'Isa demonstrates Allah's power, the continuity of prophetic mission, and the ultimate triumph of truth over falsehood. It also shows that Prophet Isa followed Shariah of Muhammad (PBUH) during his second coming. This belief provides hope to believers facing trials, affirming that divine justice will prevail and that prophets support the faithful in every age.
