Al-Masih ad-Dajjal, the Dajjal, is the "False Messiah" or Antichrist in Islamic eschatology. He is a great deceiver who will appear before the end of the world, claiming divinity and performing miraculous feats. According to Hadith, he is blind in one eye and will have the letters for "Kafir" (disbeliever) written on his forehead. The trial (Fitna) of the Dajjal is considered the greatest test for believers in history.

The Prophet described him in detail: "He is a young man... with one eye blind" (Bukhari, Muslim). He will emerge from the east and travel the world spreading corruption. The Dajjal will claim to be God, performing apparent miracles like reviving the dead. These are deceptions, and believers will recognize his falsehood because his claims contradict the oneness of Allah. Protections include reciting the first and last ten verses of Surah al-Kahf.

The Dajjal will be unable to enter Mecca or Medina, which are protected by angels. He will eventually be killed by Prophet Isa (Jesus) at the gate of Ludd in Palestine. His appearance is one of the major signs of the Hour, occurring alongside the return of Isa and the rising of the sun from the west. This trial tests faith directly; only those with strong certainty will resist his illusions.

For believers, the Dajjal serves as a warning: faith must be grounded in knowledge, not just emotion. The Prophet warned: "Whoever hears of the Dajjal, let him stay far from him" (Abu Dawud). The narrative emphasizes the final victory of truth over falsehood. The believer prepares by strengthening their knowledge of Allah, maintaining regular prayer, and cultivating faith that is based on certainty, not merely tradition.
