Isa (Jesus) is one of the five greatest Messengers of Allah (Ulul 'Azm). Born miraculously to Maryam (Mary), he was granted the Injeel (Gospel) and performed many miracles by Allah's permission, such as healing the blind and raising the dead. Muslims believe he was raised to the heavens and will return before the Day of Judgment to restore justice. Prophet Isa (peace be upon him) is a beloved prophet in Islam. He was born miraculously to Maryam (Mary), without a father. The Quran describes his birth in Surah Maryam (19). When Maryam was told she would bear a child, she said: "How can I have a boy while no man has touched me and I have not been unchaste?" The angel replied: "Thus [it will be]; your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign to the people and a mercy from Us'" (19:20-21). Isa was a prophet who called the Children of Israel to worship Allah alone. He was given the Injeel (Gospel) as a guidance for his people. He performed many miracles by Allah's permission: he healed the blind and the leper, raised the dead, and created birds from clay. The Quran says: "And [make him] a messenger to the Children of Israel, [saying], 'I have come to you with a sign from your Lord: that I design for you from clay [that which is] like the form of a bird, then I breathe into it and it becomes a bird by permission of Allah. And I cure the blind and the leper, and I give life to the dead,by permission of Allah'" (3:49). Isa was not crucified. The Quran says: "They did not kill him, nor did they crucify him, but [another] was made to resemble him to them" (4:157). Allah raised him up to Himself. Muslims believe that Isa will return before the Day of Judgment. He will descend to Damascus, pray behind the Mahdi, and kill the Dajjal (Antichrist). He will establish justice on earth, break the cross, and kill the pig. He will rule by the Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad. Isa is a sign of Allah's power. His birth without a father is a miracle, demonstrating that Allah is able to do all things. He is a mercy to humanity, as his message called to monotheism and righteousness. For believers, Isa is a beloved prophet. They honor him, believe in him, and love him. They reject the claims that he is divine or the son of God. They affirm that he was a servant and messenger of Allah. The Quran says: "The Messiah, son of Mary, was not but a messenger; [other] messengers have passed on before him" (5:75). Believers also await the return of Isa. They know that his return is a sign of the approaching Day of Judgment. They strive to be among those who support him when he returns, following the truth and standing against falsehood. Isa is also a model of devotion. He prayed, fasted, and called to the worship of Allah alone. The believer follows his example, dedicating themselves to Allah and calling others to the truth. The ultimate reward is to be with Isa and the other prophets in Paradise. The believer strives to attain that reward through faith, righteous deeds, and love for all the prophets of Allah.
